How to Store THC-P Vapes

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P) is a hugely in-demand cannabinoid that happens to be the most powerfully psychoactive compound in all of the hemp plant.  For reference, it’s about 10x more intoxicating than delta 9 THC, which, to say the least, will get you pretty high.

THC-P vapes, be it vape cartridges or disposable/rechargeable vape pens, remain the most popular way to experience these effects, offering a fast-acting, potent delivery method that comes in a lot of great strain choices.  But, if you’re not storing those vapes properly, the compounds in them can degrade fast, causing them to lose their ability to do much of anything at all.

Do THC-P Vapes Go Bad?

Generally, a THC-P vape has a shelf life of about 2 years if they’re stored properly.  After that point, the tetrahydrocannabiphorol and terpenes begin to degrade, and eventually lose their effectiveness completely.  This doesn’t make them dangerous to use, but it does mean that you won’t be able to get high off of them, which makes them essentially useless.  Also means you won’t be able to taste those terpenes that make the strain unique.

At the end of the day, if you don’t store your product properly, then it can expire prematurely.  How quickly it expires depends on just how badly it was stored.  To know if your product has expired, there are a few things that you can look for.

  1. First, check to see if the color, texture, or aroma are different from how they were when you first purchased the product.
  2. Another more obvious giveaway is that the product is no longer giving you the same effects, which would mean that the tetrahydrocannabiphorol in the product has degraded due to age.
  3. If your product is expired, then it’s time to throw it out and replace it.

How to Keep Those THC-P Vapes Fresh

While THC-P vapes, and all hemp products for that matter, have an expiration date, the good news is that there are some very easy ways to prevent them from expiring before you get a chance to fully enjoy them.  Just follow these tips below to keep your vaping products fresh for as long as possible.

Tip #1: Dark, Dry, and Cool is the Way to Go

First of all, make sure that you keep your vapes and all other THC-P products in an area that stays dark, cool and dry.  Light, humidity, and heat all result in a rapid loss of potency since they encourage the organic compounds in the product to break down quickly.  Find a closet, drawer, or cabinet, and avoid areas like sunny windowsills and bathrooms, where the shower affects the humidity of the room.

The ideal storage temperature for a THCP vape cartridge and disposable/rechargeable vape pen in general is about 70°F.  Higher temps have an identical effect on oil as they do on flower – it degrades and no longer has the same potency.  You can store cartridges and vape pens in the fridge.  However, no need to run the prospect of getting condensed moisture issues.  Most certainly though, DO NOT freeze your vape carts or vape pens.

Tip #2: An Airtight Seal is Critical

Always keep your THC-P vapes in their original airtight package until you’re ready to use them.  Once they’re opened, oxygen can trickle in through the mouthpiece, causing the compounds to break down in a matter of a few months.  Of course, if you go through vapes every few weeks, this isn’t so much of an issue.  Once your vapes are open, you can keep them in an airtight pouch when they’re not in use.

Tip #3: Keep Your THC-P Indoors

Basically, you always want to avoid keeping your THC-P outside with the exception of when you’re traveling.  The unstable levels of heat, light and humidity outdoors can all wreak havoc on the chemical properties inside of your vapes.  This means never leaving your vapes in your yard, in a car or in a shed, where the environment can change suddenly and drastically.

Tip #4: Don’t Buy More Than You Need

It’s tempting to stock up on tons of THC-P vapes when your favorite retailer is having a sale.  But, if you’re not going to get through all of those vapes before they expire, then you’re just wasting money.  Pace yourself with your buying, keeping in mind how long it takes you to get through a single gram of vape oil.

A Little Extra Info For You When Buying Fresh THC-P Vapes

Besides making a point to store your thc-p products properly, you also need to pay attention to who you’re buying it from.  Why?  Because some companies sell poorly made formulas, or products that are close to expiring, and so it doesn’t matter how well you store them since they’re already well on their way to losing their effectiveness.

Find a company with a solid reputation, as they’re more likely to have a high product turnover rate which means that their products are never sitting in the warehouse for too long.  Also, make sure that they use clean extraction methods and exceptional ingredients, as both of these aspects preserve the stability of the cannabinoid itself, as well as the other ingredients.

At Binoid, all of our hemp products are made using the best methods and ingredients, and our product turnover rate is very high so that products are always sold fresh.

Extra Precaution/Safety Measure: Good idea to buy a vape cartridge storage case for your equipment.  Vape pens/batteries usually come with a case.

Don’t Forget to Lock Your THC-P Vapes Up!

Always best to lock up all of your cannabis supplies, but especially any type of vaping hardware.  Doing so ensures that your supplies avoid direct sunlight, which, as we mentioned earlier, is bad for the vape oil.  Additionally, if you have kids, locking your THCP vapes is particularly critical.  Many vape pens aren’t overly complicated to work, and it would be simple for a youngster to take an illicit puff.  Not something any of us want to see happen.

Follow These Tips to Get the Most Out of Each THC-P Vaping Session

THC-P vapes can offer you an absolutely gratifying high, and their terpenes can provide you with both exquisite flavor and stunning effects.  But, if your vapes aren’t fresh, then you’re in for a lot of disappointment, as the compounds become weaker and weaker over time.  The key is storing your vapes properly, and only buying them from companies known for selling the freshest products at all times.  This way, you can enjoy tetrahydrocannabiphorol’s full potential each time you take in a nice puff of vapor.

Lastly, employ caution when storing a vape cartridge and/or disposable/rechargeable vape pen.  Often, with cartridges, these are assembled from somewhat fragile material like Pyrex glass, and depending on the manufacturer, could be easy to crack or completely damage.  Broken vape cartridges can lead to leaks, which in turn, ruin your cartridge.  For this reason, they (carts and disposable/rechargeable vape pens) should be kept in a vertical (upright) position rather than lying on their side or being placed without care.
