Basic Profile

Death Star is classified as an indica-dominant hybrid, with a 75% indica/25% sativa profile.  It’s unique in that it possesses a high concentration of CBD, which adds to its soothing effects.  Meanwhile, its THC concentration ranges from 18%-27%, although newer phenotypes typically end up on the more potent side.

Death Star is the result of crossing Sensi Star with Sour Diesel, and while it seems to borrow more from its former parent, Sour Diesel lovers will definitely recognize some attributes once they get the cultivar in their system.

Physical Characteristics

Death Star is a very sticky strain, and any connoisseur will tell you that this is an incredibly promising sign of things to come.  The stickiness shows you that it’s very potent in its cannabinoid and terpene content due to the strong presence of resinous trichomes coating each bud.  The green color that coats these fluffy buds is sometimes overshadowed by a vibrant purple hue that also dominates the stems.  It’s a frosty-looking strain that looks like it’s been dipped in sugar.

Flavor & Aroma

Death Star’s aroma is quite pungent – in fact, so pungent that it can surprise those who are newer to the world of strains.  The dominating notes are those of sour lemons and rubber, which isn’t surprising considering its ancestry.  The taste, meanwhile, is a bit more agreeable, as there’s a distinctive sweetness that overpowers the sourness of the lemon and the rubbery undertones.

Effects

Death Star has not been around for as long as its parent strains, which is why you’re not going to find as much information on it when trying to research it.  But, despite this, many people consider it a favorite, and a staple of their rotation.  Ideal for nighttime use due to its ability to slow you down profusely, it’s a creeper, in that it can take a while to really hit its stride, and you’ll feel a very slow, drawn out build as it works its way into your body and mind.

Once Death Star truly kicks in, you’ll find yourself in a state of serious bliss.  Its effects are mainly cerebral, at least early on, as you find yourself in a state of hazy euphoria, with all of your worries melting away before your eyes.  You might feel quite unfocused, which is another reason why this is best for evening enjoyment.

Death Star is great for those moments when you’re feeling stressed out and want to escape your inner world, and it’s no surprise that so many people actually prefer it at bedtime.  Pairing its soothing effects on the mind with its deeply easing body high that takes effect shortly after, it’s the perfect strain to curl up with as you get ready to hit the hay.  Don’t expect to get much done once it does take effect, as this is not a strain that will give you a boost of motivation or make you feel more sociable.  It’s a strain best enjoyed solo, as it can very well knock you out, or at the very least make you feel like you’re in outer space, unaware of your surroundings.

Growing

Originally was bred in Ohio, but now has friends throughout the galaxy, Death Star will hit its highest THC concentrations when grown in soil with organic nutrients at temps ranging from 68°F-80°F.

  • Indoor growing time 9-14 weeks and will harvest about 14oz. per square meter.  Grows best outdoors in a sunny, warm climate, as it be ready for a mid-October harvest.  When growing this strain indoors, be patient training it, as its sativa qualities will make launch quickly.
  • Outdoor growing will yield about 12oz. per plant — a relatively small yield, but what is lost in yield is made up in awesome quality.
