Is Delta 9 THC Safe?

Delta 9 THC is a cannabinoid that many of us have been familiar with for some time, but only recently have we been able to access it legally thanks to the new federally compliant delta-9 products that come from the hemp plant.  For centuries, delta 9 has been hugely popular, but does that mean that the cannabinoid is inherently safe, or should we apply more caution to our delta 9 experience?

Is Delta 9 THC Harmful to the Body?

Delta 9 THC is not associated with any major adverse reactions, either short or long term, in any delivery method.  The cannabinoid has been widely used for thousands of years, which pretty much tells us that if there were serious harm attached, we’d know about it by now.  It’s a naturally occurring cannabinoid that the body generally tolerates just fine in all adults.

We also do want to point out that to date, there has yet to be a report of a fatal overdose directly caused by taking delta 9 THC.  So, that alone should give you some assurance that when taken in moderation especially, there’s no serious risk attached.

We do need to point out that if you are taking any medications, you should talk to your doctor before using delta 9 THC.  Delta 9 may suppress an enzyme called CYP3A4 in the body.  This enzyme is known to metabolize a wide range of common medications (prescription or non-prescription).  What could happen as a result of taking delta 9 with a medication is that the drug fails to fully metabolize, and instead builds up in the bloodstream with each dosage, and this can be dangerous.

What Kinds of Side Effects Can Come from Taking Delta 9 THC?

Delta 9 THC is not associated with any major side effects, but some people may be sensitive to certain milder side effects, which typically only last for the duration of the high.  Those with a low tolerance such as beginners are more likely to experience these side effects, as are those who take unusually high dosage amounts:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dry eyes
  • Reduced blood pressure/increased heartrate
  • Anxiety/paranoia
  • Dizziness/lightheadedness
  • Grogginess
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Headache

In the rare event that these side effects become severe, or if they last longer than the duration of the high, then you might want to consider seeking medical attention.  Again, delta 9 side effects are generally not cause for major concern.

Does Delta 9 THC Cause Impairment That Can Be Dangerous?

Trying to perform certain tasks when under the influence of delta 9 THC’s high is dangerous, and thus, must be avoided.  Delta 9 causes impairment to cognitive function, including concentration, alertness and motor skills.  This makes driving particularly dangerous, not only to you but to others.

Any task that already carries some risk should be avoided when under the influence of delta 9, and you should wait until the effects of the cannabinoid have fully worn off before engaging in anything of this nature.  Basically, it’s critical that you use the cannabinoid responsibly at all times.

Is Delta 9 THC Safe for Children or Pets?

One thing that needs to be mentioned is that delta 9 TH product is NEVER safe for pets or children.  While our adult bodies can tolerate the psychoactive effects of the cannabinoid, children and pets do not have nervous systems that are developed for these properties.  This could lead to dangerous side effects that could have major consequences, including neurotoxicity.  Basically, delta 9 is strictly for adults only.

Ways to Know You Have a Safe Delta-9 Product

Now you know that delta 9 THC itself isn’t a cannabinoid associated with any major danger.  This is good news, but one thing you need to keep in mind is that there are shady companies out there that may produce delta-9 products which do contain harmful non-hemp ingredients.  Fortunately, there are some easy tips to avoid ending up with an unsafe formula.

Tip #1: Buy Only from Trusted Companies/Manufacturers/Distributors

It’s imperative that you only buy your federally compliant delta 9 from a trusted company/manufacturer/distributor such as Binoid.  Places like these with a strong reputation are certainly going to want to maintain it by always creating safe products.  Hence, will avoid using ingredients known to be unsafe and possibly go against the FDA’s requirements along with the 2018 Farm Bill.  View their reviews, as we’ll be getting into more shortly, because if customers are having bad experiences with their products, they’ll have no trouble sharing that when they leave a review.

Tip #2: Look at Third-Party Lab Results

Look on a company’s website for their third-party lab reports.  These lab reports come from an unbiased, state-authorized testing facility, where the product is analyzed for safety by looking for things like toxins, contaminants, and harmful microbes.  You can check out Binoid’s COA’s displayed on their ‘About’ page.

Tip #3: Read the Ingredients

Always look carefully through the ingredients list provided by the manufacturer before making a delta-9 products purchase.  Steer clear from products that are loaded with synthetic ingredients or artificial fillers that don’t actually offer any value to the quality or properties of the delta 9.  This way, you’ll know before spending money that a certain product contains ingredients that are known to be unsafe.

Tip #4: Check Those Real User Reviews

Reading real reviews (reviews that sound real and aren’t duplicated) on a company’s website, in order to gather insight on other users’ experiences with that said delta-9 products that you have your eye on, before making a purchase is key.  Binoid has over a thousand real reviews displayed on the website.  That gives Binoid a higher trust factor than other brands in our industry that’ve potentially created a reputation for scamming customers.

Bottom Line: Taking Delta 9 THC is Generally Safe

Delta 9 THC is easier to acquire than ever before, and the good news is that the large majority of delta-9 products on the hemp market are not known to cause harm.  Delta 9 itself is generally tolerated by adults just fine, although there is a risk of encountering cheaply made products that contain ingredients which could potentially do harm in the long run.

This is why you should stick to products from trusted names like Binoid.  Here is where you’ll be getting only lab-tested, cleanly formulated delta 9 products to enjoy.  Made In The USA and 100% Natural, our Delta-9 products have less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC based on weight.
