9 Severe THC-P Side Effects

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P) is the newest hemp derivative to enter the marketplace, and demand for the cannabinoid is growing so quickly that companies are releasing THC-P products fast to keep their customers satisfied.

This naturally occurring compound is already being touted for its fascinating properties and effects, which is causing more and more hemp enthusiasts to feel eager to try it out for themselves.  But, some people want to be aware of its side effect profile before they actually get their hands on it, in order to be assured that it won’t cause any adverse reactions.

THC-P Side Effects List

The concept of side effects if a complex one, as each individual will ultimately have their own unique experience in terms of the effects that they feel as their bodies are unique.  However, there are certain side effects that are more strongly associated with psychoactive cannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabiphorol than others.

Side Effect #1: Being Too Happy

We had to put this at number 1. THC-P is known as a fun compound that provides an intense psychoactive effects and many THC-P benefits including being happy, with usually less side effects than regular Delta 9 THC. Now, there’s no such thing as “feeling too happy”, but we have to say that the most known effect of taking THC-P is feeling euphoric and giggly.  Also, that’s not such a bad side effect, is it?

Side Effect #2: Getting Too High

One of the most likely side effects that you may experience is getting too high.  Because tetrahydrocannabiphorol psychoactive properties have the potential to be extremely strong, this is even more likely.  While getting too high is not inherently dangerous, at least physiologically, it may impair your ability to do certain tasks safely and may cause an uncomfortable sensation while you wait for it to wear off.

Side Effect #3: Dry Mouth

Cannabinoid receptors in the salivary glands determine the production of saliva, and this is why certain cannabinoids may cause dry mouth.  This side effect is relatively common, but it’s also quite short-lived.

Side Effect #4: Dry Eyes

Dry eyes can also occur for similar reasons – cannabinoid receptors in the eyes regulate moisture levels.  Again, this effect is temporary, and is common among many psychoactive cannabinoids.

Side Effect #5: A Mild Drop in Blood Pressure

Several cannabinoids in the hemp plant can cause a temporary drop in blood pressure, and this is not associated with serious harm.  The effects of this can result in a slightly elevated heart rate.

Side Effect #6: Lightheadedness

Some people say that they feel lightheaded after consuming certain cannabinoids, and this likely has to do with the effect that they have on blood pressure.

Side Effect #7: Grogginess/Sleepiness

It’s very common for a person to feel groggy or sleepy after consuming cannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabiphorol, due to the effects that it has on the body’s nervous system.

Side Effect #8: Disorientation

Intoxicating substances naturally lead to some level of disorientation, and this is true of THC-P as well as many substances that we consume regularly.  These effects usually last only briefly after the high has worn off.

Side Effect #9: A Failed Drug Test

Psychoactive cannabinoids trigger the production of the THC-COOH enzyme in our body.  So, THC-COOH levels can trigger a positive drug test result.

What is THC-P?

Being a cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabiphorol naturally exists in the hemp plant.  However, it has only been identified since late 2019, when a team of Italian researchers discovered it accidentally when applying chromatographic techniques to a sample of hemp material.  By isolating each individual cannabinoid in the plant, THC-P emerged, and the researchers wasted no time analyzing it to understand its effects.

THC-P notably binds to CB1 receptors in the brain about 30x as efficiently as delta 9 THC, meaning that its high may be very powerful.  Its physiological effects seem to largely mimic those associated with delta 9.

Does THC-P Cause Side Effects?

Even though many people take hemp-derived cannabinoids on a daily basis, some individuals may experience certain side effects, and this is especially true of cannabinoids that have psychoactive properties, due to the sometimes powerful nervous system response that they can elicit.  Tetrahydrocannabiphorol may be associated with certain side effects, which are rarely experienced on a severe level.  The risk of side effects depends on specific factors.

Factor #1: Milligram Strength

The strength of each dosage, determined by the number of milligrams of THC-P extract in a THC-P product, can play a big role in the likelihood of experiencing side effects.  Naturally, more potent dosages can yield stronger effects overall.

Factor #2: THC-P Dosage

At the same time, the size of the dosage also makes a difference.  It goes without saying that the more tetrahydrocannabiphorol you consume in one sitting, the stronger certain side effects may be.

Factor #3: Delivery Method

Some delivery methods produce stronger bodily responses than others due to their bioavailability.  THC-P flower and vapes tend to yield the strongest response due to the bioavailability of inhaling cannabinoids, and thus may lead to stronger side effects.  Dabs are the most capable of producing stronger effects as the concentrates that are dabbed are created specially to produce high potency levels.

Factor #4: Your Tolerance

Some individuals have more of a natural tolerance to the overall effects of certain cannabinoids than others.  The lower the tolerance, the more one may feel side effects.  Those who are completely new to psychoactive cannabinoids likely have a low tolerance.

Factor #5: Your Body’s Response

The complexities of the human body mean that some people may be more prone to specific side effects than others due to various biochemical factors.

Is THC-P Toxic?

While more intensive research on tetrahydrocannabiphorol is still underway, there is no reason to believe that it can yield a toxic response in the body.  This is because the hemp plant as a whole is deemed nontoxic, and no cannabinoids to date have been associated with any kind of toxic bodily response.

Avoiding Side Effects with THC-P: Always Look for Quality

The unfortunate reality is that lower-quality THC-P products are more likely to cause certain side effects due to poor processing techniques that influence how the cannabinoid behaves in the body.  This is why you should always get your THC-P from a trusted source like Binoid CBD.

Binoid’s tetrahydrocannabiphorol comes from organic hemp material and is blended with clean ingredients.  All of our THC-P is lab-tested to verify its authenticity, quality, and purity, to ensure that our customers are only getting the very best hemp on the market.

Where Is The Proper THC-P Dosage?

THC-P is a very powerful compound, with effects quite a bit stronger than Delta 8 THC. What this means, is the THC-P dosage should start low and keep increasing over time.

  1. Beginner THC-P dosing (low tolerance): 3mg-10mg per use
  2. Intermediate THC-P dosing (medium tolerance): 10mg-20mg per use
  3. Advanced THC-P dosing (high tolerance): 20mg-35mg+ per use

This applies to THC-P tincturesTHC-P gummiesTHC-P vape cartridges as well as other THC-P products. THC-P is around 3x of the high regular Delta 9 THC will create, except with a stronger psychedelic and visual experience.
